Continue ShoppingLawson Lunde was born in 1935 and lived in Des Plaines, Illinois, for many years until his death in 2019. As a child, he was on panels for the radio and television program, The Quiz Kids, where his specialties were music and sports. As a pianist he appeared at age 14 with the Chicago Symphony, and later studied composition with Vittorio Rieti and Robert Delaney.
Lunde's works for saxophone are well known. They include the Sonata I and Sonata II for Alto Saxophone and Piano, the Alpine Sonata for Soprano Saxophone and Piano, and his Suite for Saxophone Quartet. His "Sonata II" for alto saxophone and piano is recorded by Keith Zimmerman and is available on Jeanne Digital Recordings (CD2292).
