Monadnock Moods, a 4-movement unaccompanied clarinet solo,
was one of several works composed while the
composer was in residence at the MacDowell Colony,
Peterborough, New Hampshire, during the summer of 1982.
The studio in which the composer worked provided a
clear view over a valley of Mt. Monadnock, located to
the south of the Colony. Weather changes provided a
delightful palette of moods evoked by the mountain from
the introspective sublime to the exuberant and playful
results of sunlight and white puffs of clouds dancing
over its gentle contours. Approximately 6.5 minutes.
