Code: TBC-001
ISBN: 0-19-516954-9
The Baroque Clarinet, 1st edition by Albert R. Rice, and published by Oxford University Press, is a sourcebook for the historical study of the European clarinet during the first half of the eighteenth century. The opening chapter provides a general view of the precursors of the clarinet. The remainder of the book looks in detail at the baroque clarinet: its design and construction, its playing techniques, the music written for it, and its use by both amateur and professional players.
Note: this item is the 1st edition from 1992, in paperback. In 2020, Oxford University Press published a new edition with an added section on the chalumeau. Although the 1st edition lacks this new material on the chalumeau, the greatly reduced price makes it a very economical purchase.
