Paganini (Camwell): Moto Perpetuo for 2 alto saxophones and piano

Moto Perpetuo was written by Niccolo Paganini in 1835 as a showcase for his prodigious violin technique. It is a relatively short work (approximately four minutes), in comparison with Paganini's concertos that can often exceed twenty minutes. The soloist begins on the third beat of the first bar, and never stops the continual 16th note passages until the piece concludes on its final three chords. This arrangement, by Dave Camwell, divides the solo line between two alto saxophones, and adds some harmonic doubling to allow for both players to perform simultaneously. This, along with some other compositional arranging methods, has resulted in an edition that is challenging for both lines; they are essentially equal in their difficulty level.
