Mozart originally composed his Divertimento in E-flat
Major (K. 166) in March of 1773 when he was 17 years old
and had returned to Salzburg, after many travels, to be
appointed a court musician. The original instrumentation
is for 2 oboes, 2 English horns, 2 B-flat clarinets, 2
horns in E-flat, and 2 bassoons. The work is also known
as Divertimento No. 3 for Wind Ensemble and has an
alternate catalog number of K.159d.
This music has been transcribed for clarinet choir by
James Mack. The instrumentation is B-flat clarinet 1-6,
alto clarinet 1-2, bass clarinet, and contra clarinet.
Alternate (optional) parts have been included in this
set for Alto Clarinet 1 (Clarinet 7), Alto Clarinet 1-2
(Basset Horn 1-2) and Contrabass clarinet in B-flat or
E-flat contra-alto clarinet. The score plus 1 copy of each part is included
in the set. Extra individual parts are available as a separate purchase.
