One of the most important factors in a good oboe reed is that it seal tightly all the way to the top. When a plaque is placed between the reed blades, it naturally forces the blades apart. This forced separation should be kept as small as possible or it can lead to leakage on the sides of the reed. Jeanne flat plaques, stamped from blued spring steel with our specially designed dies, are narrower than most for better control of scraping and minimal separation of the blades. We do not recommend using the "contour" shaped plaque.
Jeanne plaques can be ordered in packets of 3 or 10.
