The 4 movements in this sonata for alto saxophone and
piano range from pastoral and lyrical melodies to driving
rhythms and rapid technique. The third movement begins and
ends with a cadenza where the saxophonist plays into the
piano with the lid up and sustaining pedal depressed which
produces sympathetic vibrations of the piano strings.
Composed in 2000 for and recorded by Kenneth Tse. Total
duration 13.75 minutes.
