Barret's Complete Method for Oboe was first published in 1850. The Grand Studies is is the final section and represents the culmination of the concepts of phrasing, articulation and technique presented in the earlier studies. The current edition, edited by Valarie Anderson, has corrected obvious note and articulation errors. Some missing dynamics and articulations have been added, but in so doing, striving to maintain the intent of the composer. Barret's Grand Studies is offered as a separate publication for those not wanting the Complete Method.
