Pan I for unaccompanied clarinet typifies the Far East musical style. The work starts and ends slowly and dreamy. The middle dance-like section emphasizes the pentatonic scale. The work was premiered at the 1997 International Clarinet Association Conference in Lubbock, Texas, and has been recorded by Im-Soo Lee, Associate Principal Clarinet with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
