Larson: Excerpts I for Solo Clarinet

This solo work, written in 1972, gives the performer the discretion to arrange the structure of the composition. After the opening page, the performer may select any order for the first eight excerpts. An 'Interlude' may be placed between any of these first eight excerpts. A ninth excerpt ends the composition. Microtones, challenging technique, extreme range, and theater are found along side pleasant melodic writing. Approximately 7 minutes.
