Continue ShoppingMatt Doran has composed 220 works. They include ten operas, six symphonies, six concerti, various songs, choral compositions, chamber pieces, and 70 works that involve the flute. Some of the major performances of Doran's compositions include performances at Carnegie Recital Hall, radio KFAC in Los Angeles, an evening of Doran works at the Strauss Conservatory in Munich and opera performances in Los Angeles, New York, Texas, Oregon and Kansas. Dr. Doran has an interesting second career, also being known as Narod the Magician. He is currently teaching a magic class at the Vancouver School of the Arts and Academics. He has performed for private parties for both children and adults including the children of Jon Voight, Englebert Humperdinck, John Candy, Edward Albert, Marty Kroft and Tony Bennett. An interesting sidelight is that he gave Frank Zappa his first concert at Mount St. Mary's College! At present he continues to compose and give piano, magic and flute lessons privately in Vancouver.
