Saxophonist Keith M. Zimmerman, wrote Reflection for unaccompanied soprano saxophone for a series of concerts he was playing in 1985.
The music was meant to be a combination of a prayer and a celebration, inspired, in part, by friendship with the late Reverend Bruce Allison
who hosted one of the concerts in his church in Lincoln, IL. Four phrases, individually and in combination, kept recurring to him in the writing:
Lord, strengthen my Faith; Guardian of My Soul; Thou Can make me Whole; With You Now I'm Whole.
Duration: approximately 6 minutes. Expressive playing, rather than virtuoso technique, is the major challenge in this work. The music has a
modal flavor and is very introspective. It has been recorded on Jeanne Digital Recordings, CD2292.
