This famous solo was composed for the graduation and
solo competition for the Paris Conservatory in 1901. Its
great use of the clarinet has made it a favorite ever
since then. The work includes an opening cadenza, a
beautiful Largo, an intense Allegro, and a technical
finale.
This new edition has been adapted for E-flat clarinet and
piano and is one of the Jeanne Master Class
Series. It includes extensive performance
suggestions and high register fingerings by John
Anderson. The "written" notes for the solo E-flat clarinet
are the same as the original. The piano accompaniment
has been transposed.
The original version for B-flat Clarinet and Piano is also
available. (JP2018)
