Kinderszenen (Children's Scenes) for oboe, cello and piano recreates the atmosphere of Robert Schumann's homonymous work from personal and nationalistic standpoints. Kinderszenen has three movements: (1) Schumanniana is a homage to the German composer, making use of his compositional style; (2) Cantiga is based on the Brazilian folk tune 'A mare encheu,' traditionally sung in children's rounds; (3) Maracatu is a playful dance typical of North Brazil. This trio has been recorded by James Ryon and is available from Jeanne, Inc. (CD2261)
