The Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano (1975-1977) was one of David DeBoor Canfield's first mature works, and one of the earliest to be retained in his official catalog of compositions. There are 3 movements. The work is dedicated to the composer's father, who, like the composer, is a violinist and is particularly fond of music in the romantic style, and so the present work was written with him in mind. Total duration: approx. 16 minutes.
This violin sonata has been recorded on Enharmonic Records ENCD08-017 with violinist, Andres Cardenes and pianist, David Brunell.
