Muzio Filippo Vincenzo Francesco Saverio Clementi (1752–1832) was an English composer, pianist, conductor, music editor and publisher, and piano manufacturer. He developed a fluent and technical legato style, which he passed on to a generation of pianists. He composed almost 110 piano sonatas including the six Progressive Pianoforte Sonatinas, op. 36, written in 1797 and revised in 1820. This arrangement for oboe and piano by Christian Tuns was completed in 2018. The technical demands for the oboe are intermediate to moderate and will provide excellent repertoire for the developing oboist, but could also provide good recital music from the late Classical style for more advanced players.
Sonatina in C Major, op. 36/3, has 3 short movements with a total duration of approximately 6 minutes.
A video performance of the complete Clementi C major Sonatina, featuring Christian Tuns on oboe, is available on YouTube.
